The Korean peninsula is geographically located at the heart of the North Western Pacific, sharing a border with China and Russia to the north and lying near the Japanese archipelago to the south. About 65% of its terrain is mostly mountainous and it is a top-rank in the OECD. 

The forest have deeply related to the human life in the manner of providing oxygen, water, resources for industrial activities, natural habitats for plants and animals, and place for healing.

The forest science includes the basic concept of the principle and techniques about using, developing, managing, protecting, and recovering the natural resources and now it is expanded into building the counter strategy for climate change and providing welfare service based on the diverse environment of forest. Six major study fields of the forest science are forestry biology, forest conservation, forest management, forest engineering, forest product, and forest service.

Department ofForest Science provide the education program demanded for expert of forest science.
